Our Programs
Navigating the College Transition with Confidence
College is a big transition: personal growth, different challenges, and new opportunities.
We offer two comprehensive programs, Capstone on Campus and Capstone Coaching, supporting both students and families through this pivotal journey.
Capstone on Campus partners directly with high schools to deliver essential preparation. We use group sessions with students and parents to address everything from time management and academic expectations to building self-worth and normalizing help-seeking behaviors. Throughout all of this we underscore the critical role of relationship building with peers, professors, and mentors. Research shows that the number and quality of these relationships are the single most important determinant of a student’s growth and long-term success in life.
For those seeking personalized support, Capstone Coaching offers individual sessions customized to each client’s unique needs. Here, we help you go deeper with proactive planning, building resilience, creating support networks, and setting realistic goals. Capstone Coaching is used by students, parents, and blended sessions involving students and parents meeting together.
Capstone on Campus
We partner with K-12 schools to provide comprehensive support for students preparing to transition to college.
1, 2 or 3 in-person sessions led by Capstone facilitators, which can include:
- Content exclusively for parents,
- Content only for students only, and
- Combined sessions, bringing parents and students together.
For athletes and athletic departments, we also offer In Motion. In Motion is a specialized program addressing the needs of student athletes.
Content for Parents
This 90 minute session will focus on giving parents the tools needed to support their child as they start their college journey. Themes will include:
- Helping your child develop autonomy
- Creating structure in their new college life
- Understanding how they can build new adult relationships and the barriers that sometimes get in the way
- Changes in the emotional component of a student leaving home
Content for Students
This 90 minute session addresses four crucial areas to prepare students for the realities of the college experience.
- Learning how adult relationships in college work…how to seek them out and build them
- Minimizing comparison and improving self-worth
- Managing expectations so they are not too low or too high
- Normalizing seeking help
Content for Students and Parents
This 90 minute session will give students and parents the opportunity to hear content and have conversations focused on the following themes:
- College beyond the campus tour
- What students need from parents, and parents need in return
- Prioritizing relationships in college
- Common understanding of mental health issues we all face
Capstone Coaching
Our private coaching sessions provide personalized, one-on-one support for students and parents. We offer these in private or group formats based on your needs and preferences. These one-hour sessions allow us and you to go deeper, get specific, and receive personalized support.
Our coaching focuses on four essential areas:
- Proactive planning for academic and personal success
- Developing key college relationships–what’s different now and how can your student
achieve it - Practical skills…the things parents learned the hard way
- Expectation management and realistic goal setting
Our Core program consists of six hours of individualized coaching. Our twelve-hour Intensive program covers all topics in depth and allows for in-process goal-setting and work to help students reach next-level responsibility.
